Environmental Baseline Monitoring
The purpose of environmental baseline monitoring is to characterize an area and define the preliminary environmental status, prior to the advancement of a project. Monitoring activities may include meteorology; air quality; surface water quality; surface water quantity; and groundwater quality and quantity. Baseline studies can support decisions based on mine development, management planning, and continual monitoring.
